What is The Source?
The Source is a weekly gathering of students from all over Albuquerque. It is first and foremost all about Jesus. The heart of the gospel is that we have new life through and in Jesus Christ. A man who lived and died 2000 years ago who was God come to restore people into a relationship with himself. This life we have in Jesus gives us an incredible reason to celebrate and give praise back to God.
Life, however, is complicated and often times we struggle to live in the reality of God’s love for us. Frequently we can all be drawn away from God entirely and start to believe that things other than him will grant us more life. These can even be good things like achieving highly in school, relationships with others, or living a prosperous and safe life. Often times these things tempt us away from the true source of our new life, particularly when we are left to ourselves. We find it tremendously helpful to come back together to both celebrate the source of our new life and to remind ourselves how easily we can be drawn away from it. We by no means claim to have all the answers, but we know that ultimately Jesus is the one who can give us new life.
As we come together we are reminded of the hope, life and joy we now have in Jesus. We find that at the end of our failures we are free to come back to him and celebrate with one another all his benefits. It is this new life in Jesus that we have that we ultimately become free to love God, love people, and serve the world.
We hope that you will join us and find life from The Source on Thursdays at 7:27pm in the Mitchell Hall Room 120 on UNM’s campus. (Right Next to the Duck Pond)
